3. How We Use Your Information
- Service delivery: Matching clients with appropriate artisans, processing payments, managing job requests.
- Account management: Creating and maintaining your account, authenticating logins, password resets.
- Communications: Sending transaction alerts, job notifications, service updates, and important notices.
- Safety & fraud prevention: Verifying artisan identities, detecting fraudulent transactions, audit logging.
- Platform improvement: Analysing usage patterns to improve features and user experience.
- Legal compliance: Fulfilling obligations under Nigerian law including the NDPR 2019.
4. Legal Basis for Processing
- Contractual necessity: Processing required to deliver the services you signed up for.
- Consent: Marketing communications and optional notifications (you may withdraw consent at any time).
- Legitimate interests: Fraud prevention, platform security, and service improvement.
- Legal obligation: Compliance with applicable Nigerian laws and regulatory requirements.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We may share it with:
- Artisans/Clients: Limited contact information is shared to facilitate job completion (e.g., phone number for coordination).
- Payment processors: Globalpay and Paystack for processing transactions — subject to their own privacy policies.
- Push notification providers: OneSignal for delivering in-app notifications — anonymised device tokens only.
- Legal authorities: Where required by court order or applicable Nigerian law.
6. Data Retention
- Active account data is retained for as long as your account remains active.
- Transaction records are retained for 7 years as required by Nigerian financial regulations.
- Audit logs are retained for 90 days by default.
- After account closure, personal data is anonymised within 30 days, except where legal retention applies.
7. Your Rights (NDPR 2019)
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to:
- Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Erasure — Request deletion of your data (subject to legal obligations).
- Restriction — Request that we limit how we process your data.
- Portability — Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Objection — Object to processing based on legitimate interests.

8. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including password hashing (bcrypt), HTTPS encryption, parameterised database queries (PDO), and regular security audits. However, no system is completely immune to breaches. In the event of a data breach affecting your rights, we will notify you and the relevant authority within 72 hours.
9. Cookies
We use only essential session cookies required for authentication and platform function. We do not use advertising, analytics, or third-party tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser, but this may affect platform functionality.
10. Children
Our platform is not intended for persons under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has registered, please notify us immediately so we can remove the account.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. The effective date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision.
